Near the edge of a Provence in
Southern France, there is a village that sits on
a hill,
surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees. The small
stone village of Vers has quarries
that were the source of the stone for the
'Pont Du Gard' (the
ninth
wonder of
the world) which is a
40 minute walk away.
Stay in Maison de Martin for € 30 per night per person, includes continental breakfast, private room, sheets and towels (tourist tax of €.55 per night additional). The upper floor has two bedrooms and one bathroom, and the lower floor has one bedroom, dining room, and bathroom. The lower floor is reached by stone stairs up from the courtyard.
Ask about having dinner in the home of a French family, or sing traditional songs with the village choir, take a painting lesson, a guided hike to Pont du Gard (free!), a French cooking lesson after shopping at the Uzes open market, a tour of the village winery, or guided hikes in the surrounding garrigue. Bikes are available to visit nearby villages.
You can visit a local olive orchard, shop for your 'new look' in Uzes, or go swimming and canoeing in the river. Choose any or all you can fit in your schedule! Enjoy the courtyard, you are right around the corner from the boulangerie, a 5 minute walk to the wine co-op.

pleasures of Provence! EMAIL flatmartin@yahoo.com
